How can I use Library restricted resources when I travel or when I use a
computer without Bear Access?
In order to use the Library's restricted electronic resources from off campus you must be able to authenticate yourself as a member of the Cornell community. You can use either SideCar or CUWebLogin to do this. See Using Library Resources Off-Campus for more information on authentication.
SideCar:
You can put a copy of SideCar on your remote computer and use it as the mode of authentication. Click here for more information and to download SideCar from your remote location. Also, make sure the remote computer you are using is set to Ithaca time.
If you want to use SideCar without Bear Access, you'll need to launch it manually or put a shortcut to it in your startup folder.
CUWebLogin:
If SideCar is not on the computer you are using, you will be prompted by CUWebLogin to enter your NetID and password to gain access to restricted resources. Click here to learn more about CUWebLogin.
